政策声明
The evaluation of the quality of a student’s performance is the prerogative of the 教练. Nothing stated below is intended to place a limitation on this prerogative and the 教练 may be involved in the review at each stage in the 上诉 process. All final course grade 上诉s should be viewed as confidential matters between the 学生、教师和相应的管理员.
过程
If a student does not understand the reason for a final course grade, it is the student’s responsibility to contact the 教练 of the course about the final course grade. If after such informal consultation the student does not agree with the basis on which the final course grade was assigned, the student may initiate a formal 上诉 according 到下面的程序.

The initial 上诉 for a change of a final course grade must be initiated prior to the mid-term of the semester after the final course grade was received. 为目的 of this policy, the “initial 上诉” is defined as the submission of the “Appeal of “最后课程成绩”表格交给导师.

The student must state the basis for the final course grade 上诉 in writing and include all relevant supporting documents using the attached “Appeal of Final Course Grade” form and submit the documents and form to the 教练. 教员必须 meet with the student to discuss the 上诉 within five working days of receipt of 上诉表格及文件. 教官必须出具书面决定，包括 reasons for the 决定 and supporting documentation within five working days of 和学生的会面. 讲师必须提供书面通知 the 决定 with reasons to the student within this time period.

A student dissatisfied with the 教练’s 决定 may submit a written 上诉 including the “最后课程成绩申诉” form and documents initially submitted to the 教练 to the AVPA within five working days of receipt of the 教练’s 决定. This 上诉 and all further 上诉s are a review of the record; no new information nor documents may be presented by the student and no additional hearings will be held. 在收到上诉后 AVPA will review the record, consult with the 教练, and issue a written memorandum detailing the 决定 and reasons for the 决定. The AVPA must render a 决定 在收到上诉后的五个工作天内 record and provide written notification of the 决定 with reasons to the student within this time period, and notify the 教练 of the 决定
Appeal to the Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs (VPASA)
A student dissatisfied with the AVPA’s 决定 may submit a written 上诉 including the “最后课程成绩申诉” form and documents initially submitted to the 教练 to the VPASA within five working days of receipt of the AVPA’s 决定. 的VPASA will review the record and may also request materials from the 教练.
In an attempt to resolve the grade 上诉, the VPASA may interview the student, 教练, 还有其他可能有相关信息的人. 如果VPASA确定需要 a review committee to examine the issue, the committee shall consist of:

- One faculty member from each academic area (Math and Sciences, Humanities, and Social 科学)
- Ex Officio: A staff member from Student Affairs recommended by the VPASA.
The committee, if appointed, will advise the VPASA regarding the grade under 上诉.
Regardless of whether the VPASA appoints a committee, the VPASA will render a written 决定 on the grade 上诉 with reasons for the 决定 and supporting documentation 在收到上诉后的五个工作天内. VPASA将提供书面的 notification of the 决定 with reasons to the student within this time period and 将决定通知教官和AVPA.

A student may apply for discretionary review of the President’s 决定 to the Board of Regents as provided in the Policy Manual of the Board of Regents.
可能适用的附加政策
If the basis of a student’s final course grade 上诉 is a claim of discrimination or harassment by an 教练, the student is directed to the EGSC Non-Discrimination 及反骚扰政策. 如果学生上诉的依据是由于频繁 misunderstandings and/or on-going conflict with an 教练, the student is directed 到EGSC冲突解决政策.
